Wingspan Motion Pictures LLP on Wednesday announced its upcoming feature film “Ereya”, based on the life of Pulakeshi II, a prominent South Indian ruler of the 6th century.
The film, produced by Sunit Jawadekar and Nivedita Kothare, will depict the emperor’s rise to power, military campaigns and the expansion of his empire across large parts of the Indian subcontinent.

Directed by K M Chaitanya, the project is based on research and literary work by Dr Bhooshan Shanbhag. The filmmakers said the narrative aims to present a historically grounded account of Pulakeshi II’s reign and legacy.
Chaitanya, known for directing the Kannada film Aa Dinagalu, has received recognition including Filmfare Awards South and the Times KAFTA Award. His previous works include films such as “Aake”.
“Ereya” will be mounted as a pan-India production and is expected to be released in multiple languages, including Hindi and major South Indian languages, the makers said.
The producers have earlier backed Hindi films such as Phamous and Panga Naa Lo under their banner Vidisha Productions Pvt Ltd.
According to the makers, casting and key technical crew are currently being finalised. The film is expected to go on floors later this year.
