University of Leeds Invites Applications for MSc in AI Ethics and Society for September 2026 Intake

University of Leeds has opened applications for its full-time MSc in AI Ethics and Society programme for the September 2026 intake, targeting students including those from India.

The 12-month postgraduate programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to address the ethical, societal and governance challenges arising from the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI). It focuses on how AI influences public life, policymaking, trust and accountability, while training students to design responsible and inclusive systems.

Offered by the Leeds Institute for Societal Futures, the course adopts an interdisciplinary approach, combining philosophy, social sciences, public policy and technology. The curriculum includes modules on AI ethics, bias in automated systems, human-AI interaction, and the impact of AI on democracy and knowledge systems.

The programme also features challenge-based learning and inputs from industry experts, policymakers and non-governmental organisations, aligning academic learning with real-world developments in AI governance.

Applicants are required to have a first-class or equivalent undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised Indian university. English language requirements include either Standard XII English scores of 70–75 per cent, depending on the board, or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no component below 6.0.

The application deadline is July 31, 2026. Tuition fees are £26,500. Scholarships available for Indian students include a £6,000 International Masters Regional Scholarship and the International Excellence Scholarship, offering up to 50 per cent fee reduction.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a two-week virtual Global Industry Programme, providing exposure to real-world consultancy projects and industry networks.

Graduates of the programme can pursue careers in AI ethics, policy, governance, consulting, and public sector roles, among others.
