Galgotias University has unveiled advanced Semiconductor and Drone Technology Labs, integrated with a comprehensive Experiential Simulation Learning ecosystem, marking a significant step toward transforming hands-on higher education in India.
The initiative moves beyond conventional classroom teaching by enabling students to learn through building, experimentation, competition and innovation. A key highlight is the Advanced Drone Soccer Arena, where engineering education intersects with competitive gaming. Students design, build and pilot drones in high-energy matches, developing skills in precision engineering, teamwork, strategic thinking and real-time problem-solving.
The Drone Soccer Arena was inaugurated by Ashwin Fernandes, Executive Director (AMESA) at QS Quacquarelli Symonds, adding global academic recognition to the initiative.
Aligned with India’s growing focus on semiconductors, electronics manufacturing and unmanned aerial systems, the new laboratories are designed to deliver industry-grade exposure. The Semiconductor Lab offers end-to-end learning across chip design, simulation, fabrication processes and testing, with applications in artificial intelligence, automotive electronics and consumer devices.
The Drone Technology Lab provides immersive training in UAV design, assembly, flight control systems, payload integration and real-time data analytics, preparing students for applications in agriculture, infrastructure inspection, disaster response, surveillance and defence technologies.
A defining feature of the initiative is the Experiential Simulation Learning framework, which uses digital twins, virtual labs, real-time simulations and scenario-based challenges to recreate industrial environments on campus. This approach bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring students are industry-ready from the outset.
University leadership stated that the initiative reflects Galgotias University’s commitment to innovation-driven education aligned with national priorities and evolving industry demands.
