Focus on academic–industry collaboration to build next-gen safety and design professionals

Venus Safety & Health Pvt. Ltd. welcomed 30 students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai, for an immersive industry visit at its advanced manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai. The initiative aimed to strengthen academic–industry engagement and provide students with practical exposure to the safety and technical textiles sector.
During the visit, students learned about Venus Safety’s four-decade journey from a small proprietary venture to one of India’s leading PPE manufacturers. They interacted with teams involved in research, product design, engineering, and quality management, gaining an in-depth understanding of the processes behind globally certified respiratory protection solutions.
Mr. Mahesh Kudav, Chairman and Managing Director of Venus Safety & Health Pvt. Ltd., said, “Engaging with young designers and technologists helps bridge the gap between innovation and user-centric design. It is important for students to understand the science, engineering discipline, and rigorous testing involved in creating trusted PPE.”
The students explored Venus Safety’s in-house testing labs, R&D units, and large-scale manufacturing lines, observing how advanced materials, patented technologies, and strict quality systems come together to produce high-performance PPE. The visit highlighted the role of innovation, compliance, and manufacturing excellence in the safety industry.
Founded in 1986, Venus Safety is a global PPE manufacturer exporting to over 32 countries. With seven advanced facilities producing 1.5 million units daily and a workforce where 75% are women, the company is known for innovations such as the Stay Cool Butterfly Vent Valve and Twist N Click filter system, developed in collaboration with institutions like IITs, DRDO, BIS, and ISO.
