NAREDCO Mahi, the women’s wing of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), hosted the Chennai Real Estate Meet at Taj Coromandel, spotlighting the increasing role of women professionals in shaping South India’s property sector. The event brought together policymakers, developers, and women leaders to discuss inclusive and sustainable real estate development.
Opening the session, Ms. Smita Dhanraj Patil, President, NAREDCO Mahi, emphasized that women’s participation is transforming the real estate ecosystem—from planning and design to governance. “Empowering women is not a social cause; it’s an economic strategy,” she noted.
Shri Shiv Das Meena, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, Tamil Nadu RERA, highlighted the state’s transparent and progressive regulatory framework, while Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman, NAREDCO, stressed that inclusion is vital for the sector’s long-term growth. “If women are not equally part of this journey, we overlook half the sector’s potential,” he remarked.
A panel discussion titled “From Regulation to Realisation”, moderated by Ms. Sukanya Kannappan, explored how collaboration between regulators, developers, and women leaders can enhance consumer confidence and strengthen compliance under RERA.
The meet concluded with a collective call for gender-balanced leadership, mentorship programs, and policy support to encourage more women developers. Supported by GTB, Addisia, Casa Grand, and Alliance Granimarmo, the event reaffirmed NAREDCO Mahi’s mission to drive women-led transformation in real estate.
