Emmy-nominated 88 Games has announced its debut title, Kapih, an action platformer that reimagines Indian folklore with fast-paced gameplay and a distinct hand-drawn art style. Inspired by the Ramayana, Kapih follows the journey of a young Vaanar whose village is destroyed, setting him on an epic adventure intertwined with history’s legendary events.
Kapih’s gameplay blends run-n-gun action, platforming, and shoot-em-up sequences, along with a local co-op mode. The game also features Sanskrit as its audio language, ensuring authenticity through collaboration with Sanskrit scholars.
The game’s signature “Kapih Style” draws from Kalamkari, Thanjavur, Warli, and Madhubani art forms, offering a visually rich experience that showcases India’s artistic heritage.
Kapih will launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, marking a major step for Indian gaming on global platforms. The game’s official trailer premiered on PlayStation’s channels, introducing players worldwide to its captivating world.
“Kapih is a celebration of our culture, stories, and unsung heroes. We hope it resonates with players globally,” said Milind D. Shinde, Founder & CEO of 88 Games.
