Kala Srishti, India’s largest immersive artisan hub, has launched its “Celebrate with Purpose” campaign ahead of the festive season. This initiative aims to promote meaningful and culturally enriched celebrations by encouraging consumers to choose gifts that showcase Indian craftsmanship while supporting artisan communities and preserving the country’s heritage.
The Indian handicraft industry is a vital source of employment for marginalized groups, especially women, with 3.8 million female artisans contributing to this sector. Through this campaign, Kala Srishti emphasizes the importance of gifting handcrafted items that carry stories of tradition, sustainability, and cultural pride.
The campaign highlights artisans like Tarun Kumar Singh, a fourth-generation craftsman from Varanasi, known for his stunning Gulabi Meenakari work. Tarun’s dedication to his craft extends to training 15 women in his workshop, ensuring the art form’s legacy continues. Sandeep Vishwakarma, another featured artisan, blends traditional wooden craftsmanship with modern designs, transitioning from a corporate career to preserve his family’s artisanal heritage.
Kala Srishti, a VOSMOS initiative, serves as a platform connecting artisans with global markets, ensuring fair compensation and the promotion of sustainable practices. Meenakshi Mehta, Director of Communications at Vosmos, noted, “The ‘Celebrate with Purpose’ campaign is an opportunity to support artisans, preserving India’s cultural heritage while making conscious consumer choices.”
This festive season, the campaign encourages everyone to choose handcrafted gifts, celebrating artisans and their remarkable contributions to Indian culture.
