The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the preliminary schedule for NEET UG Counseling 2024, sparking excitement among thousands of medical aspirants across India. The counseling process for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc (Nursing) programs is set to begin on August 14, 2024. This competitive process aims to ensure a smooth and efficient allocation of seats in India’s medical and dental institutions.

  • Round 1 Registration:August 14 – August 21, 2024
  • Choice Filling and Locking:August 16 – August 20, 2024
  • Seat Allocation Processing:August 21 – August 22, 2024
  • Result Announcement:August 23, 2024
  • Reporting to Allotted Colleges:August 24 – August 29, 2024
  • Verification Process:August 30 – August 31, 2024

Candidates are advised to complete their registration on the official MCC website within the stipulated time and carefully select their courses and colleges, as these decisions will significantly impact seat allocation.

Expanded Opportunities for Medical Aspirants

In 2024, NEET UG Counseling will offer approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats across 710 Indian medical institutions, along with 21,000 BDS seats and seats for Ayush and nursing courses. This marks the largest counseling process to date, reflecting the government’s efforts to enhance medical education in India.

Since 2014, the number of medical colleges in India has grown from 387 to 731, an 88% increase. Correspondingly, the number of MBBS seats has risen by 118%, from 51,348 in 2014 to 1,12,112 in 2024.

The significant expansion of medical education infrastructure aligns with the government’s broader plan to address the nation’s growing need for healthcare professionals. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, highlighted these advancements in the Rajya Sabha, emphasizing the government’s commitment to making medical education more accessible.
