ESA and KDEM Collaborate on India’s First ESDM Tech Yatra
News Desk August 7, 2024The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has partnered with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) to organize the Mysuru ESDM Tech Yatra. Supported by the Karnataka Department of IT, BT, and ST, the event aims to bolster the Electronic System Design and Manufacture (ESDM) industry in the Mysuru cluster, enhancing India’s position as an ESDM powerhouse.
Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary of the IT BT Department, represented Hon’ble Minister Shri Priyank M Kharge, and interacted with industry leaders in Mysuru. She also introduced the Mysuru Big Tech Show 2024 and the Karnataka ESDM Brand. Dr. V. Veerappan, Chairman of IESA, highlighted the strategic importance of the Bengaluru-Mysuru corridor for India’s domestic and global ESDM needs, envisioning Bengaluru as a design hub and Mysuru as a manufacturing hub.
Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO of KDEM, emphasized the significance of the event in showcasing Mysuru’s manufacturing capabilities, test facilities, industry cluster, talent, and supportive government policies. He stated that this milestone event underscores Karnataka’s potential to become a global ESDM hub.
Ashok Chandak, President of IESA, noted the collaborative efforts with KDEM to provide industry stakeholders with opportunities to engage with Mysuru industry leaders and the Government of Karnataka. The event featured discussions on market trends, R&D, and opportunities within the ESDM sector, bringing together over 300 IESA members, Mysuru cluster entrepreneurs, and representatives from Karnataka’s IT, BT, and ST departments.
Key announcements during the event included a ₹1000 crore investment in the ESDM sector, creation of 5000 jobs, the launch of the new Karnataka ESDM Brand, and the Mysuru Big Tech Show 2024. Additionally, the support of 923 startups through the elevate program and GTC was highlighted.
The Mysuru ESDM Tech Yatra offered a guided tour of the Mysuru ESDM ecosystem, showcasing the region’s capabilities and infrastructure. Key interactions facilitated by IESA and KDEM included leaders like Mr. Ruchir Dixit, Mr. Sanjeev Keskar, Mr. BV Naidu, Mr. Navin Bishnoi, Mr. Jitendra Chadha, Mr. Ved Mall, Mr. Raghu Panicker, Mr. Anil Muniswamy, and Ms. Poonam. The journey from Bengaluru to Mysuru provided networking opportunities for leaders amidst natural scenery.
IESA’s collaboration with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), KITS, and the Government of Karnataka continues to strengthen the ESDM and semiconductor ecosystem in the region, positioning India as a global semiconductor and electronics leader.
