Bengaluru, Karnataka, June 3, 2024 – With the beginning of the academic year 2024-25, The Akshaya Patra Foundation renews its commitment to children’s health and education by reintroducing the mid-day meal service in Bengaluru. Over 120,000 children attending 1,272 government and government-aided schools will now receive nutritious meals from Akshaya Patra’s four centralised kitchens located in Rajajinagar, Vasanthapura, Guniagrahara, and Jigani.
Following strict safety protocols and local government guidelines, today’s menu included a wholesome meal featuring Bisibelebath, Fried Avalaki/Cornflakes, and delightful Semiya (Shavige) Payasam. Bisibelebath, prepared with mixed vegetables and ghee, provides essential nutrients, while Semiya Payasam offers both energy and a sweet conclusion to the meal.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been a pioneer in providing mid-day meals to school children, partnering with Central and State Governments to combat hunger and promote education. Serving over 2.16 million children daily across 16 states and 2 Union Territories, the Foundation has significantly contributed to improving school enrolment and retention rates, thus empowering the future generation of India.
